5-0 out of 5 stars All the critical information needed for a saltwater beginner
I have been fresh water fishing for 50+ years and am now retiring to Florida.I needed a quick start on Florida saltwater fishing and this proved to be invaluable.Very well organized to learn about all or onlythe species desired. I went on aback bay flats fishing outing and notonly impressed the other fishermen on the boat with my knowledge of fish, technique and baits, but the guide as well.I am now ordering copies forfriends who have been fishing Florida for several years because they wantedto know where they could get it.Worth more than the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and Informative
I purchased this book before a vacation trip to the Panhandle.I followed the instruction on beach fishing and caught a variety of fish on artificials every day on every outing. The book covers most if not all types of fishing well enough to put success well within reach for anyone. An excellent book withpractical and unique insights.I highly recommend this book for anyone planning to fish the saltwater of Florida.

4-0 out of 5 stars More than your usual fishing guide
Before a recent trip to Florida for some inshore fishing, I purchased several guide books of which this was the best.In what other Florida fishing book does the author bother to provide an entertaining backgroundon the geological history that produced the Florida coastal flats?Thereis a light dusting of cornball humor, but it only makes a very informativebook a bit more fun to read.Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
I think this book is awesome. If you're looking for an informative guide to Florida's inshore. this is it.It really focuses on the how's and why's which will make you a better fisherman. If you want to be knowledgeableabout what you're doing, buy this book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great aid for your atlas on a fishing trip in the Southern Apps.
The author's knowledge of the territory, exact locations and land marks is very helpful. He does not go in to much, if any, detail about insect life in the streams. Overall a very good book in rating streams, fishing quality, and helping you get there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Trout Streams of Southern Appalachia:Fly-Casting in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, Second E

I visit Tennessee in the Spring to fish the Park and the tailwaters, and Ian's book has been my sole guide to these waters since its publication. It covers a wide, wide range of rivers and streams, and delivers enough information to get you on the water with a reasonable idea about what's about to happen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Frank's da man
Any new angler looking for secret insight on the techniques of snook, tarpon, redfish and trout fishing, and how to apply them to areas of Tampa and beyond needs this book. As time goes by and our local sport fishingindusty explodes, fewer and fewer professional guides that are in the knowshare their spots, Frank wrote this before the net ban. It is probly thelast puplicized "here's how to get there and do it book" you'llever see. Frank has tons of respect on the water and off, both as theoutdoor writer for the Tribune and Florida Sportsman. All of theinformation and spots revealed in his book are real, true spots, some ofwhich I personaly fish weekly, almost always with great results. But don'tlet Frank tell you he showed them to me. The book contains actual navcharts with most of the best honeyholes in Tampa personally marked by Frankhimself. Tight lines, take a kid fising, watch out for the sharks. Alwaysremember two things about flats fising in Florida. 1- Your'e either in theknow- or in the dark. 2-90 percent of successfull fishin is tide. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
i bought the book, and it is great if you already know the basics of fishing.Frank sargeant gives you the areas that hold fish by labeling snook, redfish, tarpon, etc by islands and shoals etc.It is a great book for that reason alone because you can go to those locations and fish the way you like to (artificials or live bait).I strongly recommend it!!!It is an old book, but it still had great advice and the places he tells u to fish are because they hold structure and/or typical living enviorments.

4-0 out of 5 stars Title should be "The Compleat Tennessee Lake Angler"
The author covers all the major lakes of Tennessee and highlights the most popular species of each lake. They tell you exactly how to catch these species and do a fine job of it! Many species are not covered and river fishing is not covered, therefore it is not really "Compleat" (sic). For a book to cover all of that information it would have to be 2 or 3 times as big. This book does a good job of covering what it does cover (lakes and premier species) and I think I got my money's worth.

5-0 out of 5 stars Trout Fishing the Great Smoky Mountains
This is an excellent book.It is very well written and informative, too.I have fished several of the streams in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and it has helped me immensely. I can tell that Don Kirk is an accomplished fisherman, a lot of the authors only fish with their typewriter. He has made locating streams easier and offers very good advice on how to fish them.I would have to say that this is the best trout fishing book I have ever read and I have read many of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great informational guidebook to fishing in the Mid-South!!
This book is a very helpful guide to the beginning or avid fly fisher. It gives information on fly-tying, the best places to fish and stay, conditions to look for, equipment, etc.One of the best features I found was the river maps in the back and access points to them.Very well organized.

2-0 out of 5 stars Somewhat useful guide to Ozark fly fishing
Some of the information in this book is excellent, however much of it is incomplete or lacking. It is a compilation of writings of various authors, and it appears the editors couldn't find "volunteers" for thechapters on some of the best waters. The chapters on the North Fork of theWhite and Little Red Rivers are good, however others (such as the WhiteRiver) are severly lacking. The format varies for each chapter, so rivermilage, accesses, fly recommendations and landmarks may be available forone river, but not for another. 4-0 out of 5 stars The book for fly fishing Arkansas' rivers
