Few as good as this one
"Going Faster" is surely one of the best books ever written about the fundamentals of driving.While focusing on handling a car at speed on a track, each of these lessons applies to general handling in all situations.Situational awareness, looking ahead, picking the best line through a corner, understanding the car's grip and why smooth inputs matter so much.Everything is here.
Excelente Libro
Creo que he contado con suerte al seleccionar este libro como mi primer libro sobre conducci�n deportiva. Existen muchos libros que tratan el tema pero me dej� llevar por el buen nombre que tiene la Skip Barber Racing School y creo que hice muy bien. El libro cubre, creo yo, todo lo que en teor�a se deber�a saber a cerca de como correr en un auto de carreras, despu�s del libro s�lo queda poner en pr�ctica todas las cosas que se aprendieron, algo que obviamente es muy complicado, pero por lo menos al haber leido el libro ya te sientes con confianza de que no est�s actuando como un ser irracional al frente del volante de un auto de carreras. Yo aconsejo que lo compren y adem�s si tienen la opci�n de hacer el curso (yo no la tengo) lo hagan, creo que es uno de los m�s completos que hay en el mundo, lo digo porque he investigado el asunto por largo tiempo.

Trapshooter's Bible - Precision Trapshooting
Trapshooter's Bible - Precision Shooting, the companion piece to James Russell's Trapshooting Secrets. Another must read work for trap shooters of all levels of ability. The practical information, illustrations and practice tips in this volume will certainly raise your shooting ability to the next level.

Buyer beware.
While this book offers many sound trapshooting points, they come amidst a sea of personal opinion, Christian evangelizing, and the marketing of other books. This book is self-published and begs for professional editing. There are countless glowing spelling and grammatical errors. If one were to eliminate the redundancy and material not related to the subject, this rather expensive book would barely reach 100 pages. And, as if the contents were all his original ideas, he offers no bibliographic reference for any of the opinions, facts, or conclusions, even though many are contrary to conventional trapshooting wisdom and instruction. While Russell is quick to point out that the book is only useful if kept constantly on hand during practice and competition, he also sells it as an e-book that cannot be printed. All things considered, I have to seriously question the accuracy of the material and the validity of Mr. Russell's opinions.

A Great Training Reference to Workout at Home
You will find a good collection of exercises (over 400), photographed and fully described to put together a flexible workout program.
Exactly What I Was Looking For
I can't add much to the other positive reviews here, but I liked this book so much that I thought I needed to add a few more stars to it's rating.
Great book when starting to workout
This book is great for someone that has never worked out or is just getting ready to start working out again. It is especially helpful if you haven't purchased any equipment yet. It will show you how to get the most out of different types of equipment and how to do most exercises no matter what type you have (dumbbells, barbell, machine, a chair, etc.) Having said that, if you do have a particular type of equipment this book will show you how to get more exercises out of it than you ever thought possible. It also tells you the benefits of different exercise and gives you sample workout routines. Finally, it differentiates between beginner, intermediate, and advanced form for almost every exercise. ... As all books on the Rwandan genocide, this one is touching. It is a must read if you want to appreciate your freedom and understand others tragedies. It makes you question where are we, where are we when this is going on and we're off in other worlds fighting. Great, general survival text
This book does a great job of covering a variety of survival topics and techniques without seeming disorganized. Sections are divided well, and wording is direct and uncomplicated. This is a good book for serious outdoorsmen in addition to those just looking to brush up their knowledge "just in case".

Great info and a fun read
My 7 year old son loves the idea of being a survival expert. Most of his "survival" involves spending the afternoon in the year eating sandwiches in his tent.I purchased the "SAS Survival Handbook" as a something fun to read with him.

Imperfect but a Great Start!!!
I purchased this book in an effort to make good on the commitment I made to my hulking 5th wife.She (Bessie) has been increasingly difficult to manage and in general, a bit of an overweight wild bronco.I, semi-correctly, thought this book would help.I note the following from the book's description:
An enjoyable read.
I am reading books on horsemanship.I had seleted various authors and cooresponding trainers. Each offer styles that work. Each are similiar. The difference is the preentation of the material. I have a dog and have brought him back from the meanest one I ever owned. He was abused and he has found a very loving home. He is no longer mean, showing his teeth on every approach. The things I see in horse training are very similiar to how I work with dogs.
Great book for new horse owner
I am new to riding and just recently bought a horse. This book, together with "How Your Horse Wants You to Ride," has been a great help to make sense of all the well-meaning advice and my observations.

Bible of Boating, but maybe you just need a little prayer.
If you could only buy one book on boating, this would be it, but it's overkill for a beginning recreational boater. The newcomer to boating will get lost in all the detail if he tries to use this as a practical manual. With all the books on boating, it might be better to label this as an intermediate-advanced reference book. Sure, it's got everything, but most weekenders don't need to know everything, just the basics.

an absolute boater's neccessity
Chapmans is the must-have for any boater who wants to do things the right way. I regularly go to this book. Easy to read, organized and practical. A bit big to bring onboard, however.

...Only because ZERO stars was not an option
I read this book only for its tell-all possibilities - if you're at all familiar with professional tennis, you know how tightly controlled the image of the sport has become; in other words, its ripe for a tell-all.And Spadea, a bitter outsider with access to players at every level, would seem to be in perfect position to deliver.Of course he doesn't, so any fellow gossip-mongers can stop reading here.Among the insights he does offer the reader: that he's painfully aware of being older; that he has a habit of dismissing perfectly reasonable advice; that he equates stubbornness with bravery and delusion with ambition; that at 31 years old, he will occasionally "mess around" with various girls; that he swings from sky highs to career-ditching lows like a metronome; that he intensely dislikes James Blake; that he desperately wants to be famous; that the standards of the publishing world couldn't get any more lax.

I coulnt put this book down until I finished it. Spadea makes us a mid lot professional player for a couple of days, you suffer when he loses, you meet Andre Agassi, you chase models, etc. If you love tennis, you will love this book, and you could even end pushing for Vince in the circuit.

Worth Every Penny
As said before me this book lives up to its title. It is very complete, the author talks extensivly not only on every aspect of kickboxing I've ever heard of, but also of many I haven't. The book is easy to understand and the author has a unique style of writing and organization that keeps you interested. This is one of the best martial art books I've ever owned.

Specific and exacting look at one thing
Superb art-to-photograhic portrayal style is a real eye-opener. Truly takes the words "visual technique" and give them meaning. In addition to almost literally placing your hands on the club, the author's accompanying narrative talks you (and your brain) through the "why's and what-fors" which are so important to installing a dependable, repeatable swing. I also liked the approach of crafting a grip that is right for the individual, as opposed to many "sermon on the mount" techniques you see so often on this subject. Even the non-golfers in the art department are impressed and they aren't impressed with anything! For the price it's an excellent read and permanent addition to the library.

Just What the Golf Gods Ordered!
Having read a gazillion books on golf with minimal success and maximum frustration therefrom, I found this approach both positive and simple to implement. After applying several of the changes suggested here, I broke the 100 barrier for the first time, with a rollicking 92! I attribute it either to this book or the benevolent whims of the golf gods!!

I am not one to write reviews; however, this book is the exception.Without a doubt it is the best and easiest book to understand all the aspects of the golf swing.The material was presented in a manner that I could actually "see" in my minds eye what I needed to do to correct my mistakes. Finally, an easy-to-learn and effective approach to low-pressure putting!
Having close to two years of playing experience as a beginning golfer, and realizing that close to 40% of the score of in golf is putting (about 50% for me before this book), I was always looking for a good book on putting.'The Art of Putting' is that book.Stan uses a very simple to learn approach that has for me effectively removed a major portion of the pressure I always felt over every putt.Now I can focus more of my energy to reading the green, determining the speed of the putt and then going through my pre-shot routine.The bottom line: three-putts are one or two a round, down from four to seven a round.Par-savers and birdies are definite possibilities now. As an added bonus, I find that on the majority of long putts greater than 10 feet, I can more frequently putt to 1-2 feet from the pin for an easy second putt.Thanks, Stan, for making golf easier to play and, of course, a 'hole' lot more enjoyable.

Simple, Eye-Opening, Revolutionary
This book improved my golf game overnight. Contrary to the contrived Dave Pelz system in which the eye line rests directly over the target line, the shoulders rock up and down, and the putterhead moves straight back and through, Stan Utley advocates a more natural stroke: the eye line is inside the target line, the putterhead moves in an arc, and the shoulders turn around the spine. In short, it is a mini version of the full golf swing. What amazed me was how little the grip end of the putter moves in relation to the putterhead. The book's pictures of the proper grip, stance, alignment and stroke are taken from multiple angles, making Utley's technique easily visualized and grasped. Some may criticize the thinness of the book (barely 100 pages), but that will leave you more time to practice a putting method that really works.

Hike on!
As a somewhat outdoor type (ski regularly, backcountry camp about once a year) I found this to be a pretty fascinating look at survival that comes at it from many different perspectives.It is not a survival guide per se.It is not an in-depth account of the survival stories that it tells (most of these stories can be found more detailed in more exhaustive accounts like "Touching The Void".)What this book is (as the cover indicates) is a look at that profound question of why some survive and others don't and what drives us to risk our lives for thrills.Like the systems he describes, even this question has many factors.There is no one way to survive, or one factor that makes somebody a survivor.All too often, the greatest "survivor", doesn't.And realizing and accepting that fact seems to be a big part in giving the best effort to beat the odds.
Compelling journalistic account about the moxie of survivor-adventurers
Elements of "Deep Survival" were quite memorable, especially the story of the ill-fated sailing venture where one incredible woman managed to survive unbelievably difficult circumstances.The work did remind me "The Perfect Storm" at that point.However, I agree with another review that the lengthy summary of Joe Simpson's ordeal on the West Face of Suila Grande WAS lackluster in comparison with the actual narrative in "Touching the Void.As a long-time climber, I found Gonzales' account of the tragedy on Mt. Hood realistic and compelling. Those of us who have survived mountain accidents can certainly identify with the stories related by the survivors of the fall down the ice field and with Gonzales' handling of that horrible event.My hands started sweating as I recalled some of my more harrowing adventures in the Cascades and Sierra Nevada.He's clearly a journalist/adventurer a la Jon Krakauer, not a scientist, so anyone reading the book should read the technical passages about neuroscience, etc. in that context.

Enjoy but beware of the wilderness.
Wilderness is so-called because it instills an element of fear and awe to those who live by the predictable rhythms of urban and suburban life (of course, there is also such a thing as urban wilderness; same rules as spelled out in this book may also apply).Wilderness is there to appreciate by those who should also be cognizant of its risks and any unforeseen circumstances.

You need this book!!!!
As a 5k runner (25:00), I ordered this book to give me a little more info to train more efficiently.I had run a half marathon, and had no interest in doing a full marathon.I read the entire book, and began following Glover's recommendations. I saw almost immediate results.I then figured out (with Glover's help) that I, too, could do a marathon.I have dropped my 5k time to a new PR of 20:48 and will be running my first marathon in 2 weeks.I have followed his schedule very closely and have had no injuries and have improved dramatically.I even keep this book in my bathroom and reread a segment each morning!!!Every time I go back to it I learn a little more.When I did decide to do a whole marathon, I bought several books.This one far surpasses any other book out there.It is definitely worth the money!!!!

For the Winners
This is a very detailed book for anyone interested in competitive running. Geared toward both, the seasoned athlete who wants to go to a new level and the beginner with a serious desire to compete. Training specifity is broken down into strategies, explained with great detail, and scheduled accordingly. All aspects of training are covered to include nutrition, equipment, illness and injury. Cross-training is covered to also enhance your performance. Special concerns are addressed such as experience, gender, age, and weather.

I am a college student who doesnt run competitively but I run around 3-5 times per week and have been for years. This book gives great information about how to train for races and improve speed. I have bought a few running books and this is by far the best, I have no need to buy any more running books. The only thing that turned me off a little when first recieving the book is its size, it has almost 50 chapters and is over 600 pages long. However you do not need to read all 600 pages, I would recomend it to get the most knowledge out of the book, but definately not necessary. Highly recomended for anyone who wants to improve their speed and learn how to the proper way. ... Read more

Excellent book, inspiring and motivating
I was new to cycling, and I had no idea what I am doing, tried different sources of information, however nothing like this book, its very friendly and targeted towards beginners and even advanced cyclist, the book took me to a whole new level I would not even dream about, very simple and practical to use, unlike other books where they describe advanced training schedule that's not quiet possible if you are working or a full time student like me, it has chapter about female cyclists, very interesting and helpful. The book also describe nutrition thoroughly a subject always overlooked by beginners.
Great training guide for any long distance ride
I've recently decided to ride in my first 200 mile ride and thought I better prepare myself mentaly as well as physically.So I purchased this book.
Kind of Lame
I did not get much out of this book.It looks like a lot of ideas were copied from long distance running data. Important issues like clipless pedals were skimmed over. Cheap

Misleading "concept"
This book describes a concept which is not revolutionary at all, lacks a comprehensive concept and good illustrations. The first chapters lead the reader redundantly through the biophysics and biomechanics of swimming bodies and quite extensively, the development of TI. Unfortunately, it sounds more like self-adulation and is excessively descriptive. The impatient reader will skip these chapters, asking himself where the swimming drills are. Thus, coming to real swimming, this book describes a good approach by teaching balance and breaking down a stroke into single sequence drills. However, if the reader does some internet search he will get these drills for free. Additionally, most internet pages provide video-clips. The reader may enjoy the drills up to the point where he is ready for real swimming. And then, the reader has to realize that this concept lacks drills for breathing and flip-turns! In summary, this book does not provide a comprehensive concept of swimming lacking essential techniques and good illustrations. Furthermore, the approach is not revolutionary if you research the "evolution" of modern swimming.

Essential reading for the GA Instrument pilot
As a CFI I have numerous books in my aviation library. This book details flying in weather and the mindset required to be a safe and competent instrument pilot.
Dealing with the weather
Not a lesson on meteorology; more of a lesson on judgment and decision-making. In other words, how does one deal with the weather? What does one do with the information one has?
"The sky is my office"
It is hard to imagine a pilot with more weather flying experience than Captain Robert Buck. And much of this flying was in the old days: in the early years of the Army Air Corp and a young company called TWA. Much of this flying was accomplished without the assistance of modern instrumentation. Captain Buck travelled the world seeking the most ornery weather he could find, and then flew into it time and time again, compiling the experience and collecting the data that no one else had at the time. Captain Buck shares that experience here. This book is interesting and engaging to the flying enthusiast, essential to the VFR pilot, and absolutely priceless to the aspiring instrument pilot. My kids & I used to make a yearly pilgrimmage to WDW in Orlando and now my gradnkids want to do the same. So off I go again. But I wouldn't leave the house (or the car) unles I had Wiley's great guide book in my bag. Everything we need to know is there and the yearly updates make this an imperative take-along travel choice.
