All in all, it's worth a read
Eric Bischoff: Controversy Creates Cash is the autobiography of Eric Bischoff, who rightfully self boasts himself as the second most influential man in professional wrestling history, behind Vince McMahon. In his autobiography, he attempts to cover his side of the things. Although he does tell an interesting story, some things just seem to be missing.
Bischoff doesn't tell all
I was expecting to read about Bischoff criticizing many WCW and WWE wrestlers because, if you've ever seen WWE Raw during a commercial break, Bischoff runs down a list of people in the wrestling industry who he believes will be angry with him when these certain people read his book.I don't think so.His opinions on the wrestlers are pretty brief and he doesn't do much in the way of putting down anyone.Disappointing.
Well Written Read With A Lot Of Information
You learn a lot about Eric Bischoff and what has driven him.This book shows the side of him that we don't see in front of the camera.The information about the wrestling industy and the politics of it were very fascinating to someone who has been a fan for many years (particularly a fan of WCW).

Wow!
I had heard of Bowerman from the Nike brand of shoes I've worn and from the Pre movie "Without Limits".I had no idea what an amazingly big life Dave Bowerman had.The major events in his family's and his own history make for a good read.Kenny Moore is an able writer and you can tell he's spent time with the familly and friends to come up with this history of the father of the modern day running shoe.But he shows him to be more than a shoemaker.His experiences during WWII, the various Olympics (including Munich), founding and running BRS/Nike, and his battles against the Bhagwan (!) were a surprise that filled out my knowledge of the man and the Men of Oregon.Worth reading esp. if you love anything about running and track and field competition.

Great read!
Kenny Moore writes as only Kenny Moore can in this wonderful account of Bill Bowerman and the history of running at Oregon. Great book!Thanks Kenny!

Comprehensive Portrait of a Coaching Legend
Well-written and researched, this biography paints virtually every facet of Bill Bowerman's life and character across a canvas as broad as the Western skyline.From Bill's adventurous ancestors' settlement in Oregon, to his fatherless upbringing, to his high school sports and military successes, to his coaching, and finally to his entrepreneurial undertakings as a Nike founder, the narrative progresses in a logical, well-organized fashion.Even knowing that Kenny Moore, as one of Bill's unwavering supporters over the years, must have skewed this character study a bit toward the positive, I turned the last page convinced that Bill Bowerman was a multi-talented man of high principle and inquisitive Promethean temperament, who left the sport much better than he found it.

Finally, Injury Free Running for the Masses
ChiRunning was the first running technique book I'd ever read. I found it because of a silly injury that wouldn't go away and the "injury free" on the cover dragged me in.

Plane truth
This book gives you a clear understanding of two different methods of swinging a club. Decide on one or the other and stick with the drills appropriate to that particular swing plane and you will see a definite improvement.

Best instruction book for all golfers
This is the book that will answer the question of why you struggle with your golf swing and what to do about it.Discover what kind of swing, one plane or two plane, best fits your strength, flexibility, and timing then follow the proper fundamentals.

Wonderful
This is an excellent book. Like many of the reviewers, I have been frustrated over the years by the contradictory recommendations of the various teachers, teaching methods and authors. Nicklaus and Hogan say keep the ball in the same position off your left instep for all clubs. Harvey Penick, Tommy Armour (and Jim Hardy) say move it back as you go from driver to the short irons. Byron Nelson and Harvey Penick say you should stand as close to the ball as possible. A recent instructor told me to stand further away and lean over more. What's going on? Now I know. Different types of swings have different requirements. I quickly realized that I had been wandering back and forth between the two types of swings, sometimes hitting good shots and having a good round, sometimes even a good week, but soon losing it. Jim Hardy gives advice that is specific to the two types of swing. My only complaint is that there is not enough information to determine what type of swing would work best for me, but I was so impressed by the book that I bought the tapes. He must have realized that this was a weakness of the book. In the first tape, Hardy has Tom Pernice, Jr. demonstrate the amount of shoulder turn necessary for the one plane swing: the left shoulder has to be able to turn right under the chin, the right shoulder pointing up at the sky. I'm afraid that I'm just not this limber (I could never do yoga with my friends who are into it). So my decision seems to be made. This didn't surprise me too much, because in the past couple of weeks, I've been trying both types of swing, and while I never slice with the one plane and I've hit some great shots, I don't seem to hit it quite as far (and I've hit a few vicious hooks with it). Very Good
This book was definitely a good buy.Great sections on the theory of stretching and flexibility, and a good section on kinesiology.Lots of great stretches and it was great that they told you which stretches would benefit a certain muscle group.I was also really excited to find a section on improving kick height (the main reason I bought the book).Towards the end it gives lists of stretches the are good for certain kinds of martial arts (light-contact, full-contact, grappling, weapons, MMA, boxing, nd the author's favorites).Overall this book is very good.

Tae Kwon Do Flexibility
This is a geat book to improve your flexibility.Master Kim is a TKD master but the book would be great for any martial artist.I needed to improve my flexibility but too many of the book were too technical without a direct understanding of why and how.Kim does a good job of showing and explaining how things neeed to be done.I am not quite to the ground with my splits but am quickly getting there.

this was a good book, but many of the stretches are just basic stretching that we already know, but there are some that are new, and there are a lot of photos, which makes it very easy to see how to do certain things.good book for very beginners, but not that great if you are already doing stretching excercises, it is probably just a repeat of what you are already doing. ... Bicycle repair and maintenance
Excellant manual! Great info and well illistrated. I use mine a lot!

Great book... could be better...
This book does a great job covering everything basic to intermediate.I'd highly recommend it and I think that it's the best I've seen in this price range.It's not Barnett's manual but it is better than the Park tools and Zinn books in my opinion.I'd like to see more (and better quality) pictures.I've seen high rescolor pictures in books half this price.

Complete, well-written, easy-to-understand.
I like doing repairs and maintenance myself to save money. Now that I have a good bicycle, I want to service it myself. This repair manual is nice. It is full of good illustrations and pictures, tips, and advice. Most things are explained in an easy-to-understand manner. It's obvious that the author likes servicing bicycles, and that he wants the reader to enjoy it too. This makes the book pleasant reading material as well.

Concise little must-have book
If you are lucky enough to have a copy of "How to Perfect Your Golf Swing" by Jimmy Ballard and this wonderful little Effortless Golf Swing book by Michael McTeigue, just combine the instruction of both books to have a golf swing that gets results on the course.Do yourself and your golf game a favor and buy this book.

A Great Golf Instruction Book
This book is beautifully constructed, concise, gracefully written, and should be of immense help to most golfers.If you've read Ernest Jones, Percy Boomer, or Jimmy Ballard (for example) and enjoyed the insights but found it difficult to transfer the written word to your swing, try "The Keys ...": You will read a book that may finally lead you to improve your game.My swing improved markedly after I came to understand author McTeigue's "lighthouse turn" (Lesson Two: Momentum).

Gem in The Rough
I became a golf nut four years ago and I have bought every golf "training aid" and how-to book I have come across.I have closets filled with training vests, videos, and swing trainers.Then I found this book, it shaved ten points off my score, and has been my only coach for six months now.It has given me a frame-work to let me know what I am doing wrong and how to fix it.Until I "go pro" this is all I'll need. Finally a mental game book for low handicappers!
I play golf 4 times a week and am a scratch golfer, and was struggling with my game for about 6 months. I am telling you this book turned things around for me immediately! I like Rotella's stuff, but Dr. Valiante really gets it! While there are many golf psychology books out there - and I've read them all - none of them address issues for the advanced golfer with a low handicap. You can tell Dr. Valiante works with Tour Pros because he talks about things that are unique to the advanced player and low handicapper. The other books talk in general about the mind, but miss the unique things low handicappers deal with. For example, Dr. Valiante's description of Mastery/Ego golfers fit me to a tee, and since I've switched mindsets to mastery golf I am much, much more comfortable. Very helpful to the beginner
For someone new to the game, this book is fantastic.Very few instructional volumes will successfully tell you how a particular technique -feels-.The examples start with the grip, in which the illustrations show you (and the text accurately describes) precisely what it is that you're searching for in terms of hand contact with the club.Pictures are helpful, but they can't convey the less tangible feelings of swinging or holding the club properly.It's not a substitute for lessons by any means, but it is a good (and short) way to get yourself planted on the right track towards hitting the ball well consistently.

Great Instructional Book
This book can be very valuable to many golfers.I played for a few years in my late teens and early 20's mostly on par 3 courses.I stopped for a few years, but found myself wanting to jump back into the game.Playing on the par 3s it seemed as if I could hit my irons, but not my woods.I struggled with shots all over the place.I couldn't find any consistency.I have only had the book a few days now but I am seeing a little improvement.The book is pretty technical but it is a great foundation for a high-handicapper.Helps you understand why your shots can be off, and how you can fix them. If you want to get a better understanding of your own golf swing... pick up this book.

we all know this story, but if you want to read a cocky, self absorbed version from lance's perspective pick this up. horribly written, some attempts are made at poeticism ("I keep riding, into the highest peering hills, up the pitch of a mountainside, where green leaves quiver in the cold sun") but overall i'd probably get more out of a 2 page summary of his life on wikipedia.

Inspirational!
Lance provides a lot of insight into his life, who he is, and how he became the greatest cyclist in the world in this book!This book covers his life from birth to the 2nd Tour de France win.The dedication he has to his job (cycling) is so impressive.A truly inspirational story....

Fantastic- One of the best books I have ever read

disappointing for beginner
I had read all the rave reviews so was disappointed by my own experience.I am a new-comer to multisport competition.I found this book to be too much theory and not enough practicality; what was practical was presented in an incohesive way.I could see this being good for the serious triathlete, but for me, I found better use out of Eric Harr's book and on the internet.

Like reading a scientific paper
This book went above and beyond everything that I expected. The author gives references for virtually every point that he makes. He is clear about his standpoint when it comes to a lot of issues, such as POSE running, and explains his reasoning.
Good for someone wanting to progress
This is the only pure triathlon book I own, so I can't compare, but it answered 95% of the questions I had about how I go about improving from being a bunch finisher. The other 5%, well I suppose the author has to draw the line on detail somewhere. For example, the section on swimming skills is a 3-4 page summary of the total immersion swimming book.

Basics! Basics! Basics!
I found this book to have quite a different approach to teaching the beginner to ride.The author focus on balance and safety, and not moving the rider forward until a they are proficent in basic skills.
Fabulous!
A fabulous, practical book that addresses a common but "secret" problem of so many horse lovers...fear and anxiety.This is especially distressing to adult riders who used to be able to just jump on and GO!Gincy gives concrete and helpful exercises for us to do on and off the horse.She uses great visualization techniques like Sally Swift.It's great to have a book that addresses riding instead of ground training.Thank you Gincy!

Spectacular!
Actually, I am not a golfer.But I purchased this book as a Christmas present for my aunt and uncle who are recreational golfers. And spectacular is the word they both used to describe it.The photographs are beautiful and there is a short description of each place that is photographed.My aunt particularly liked that the descriptions were short.She said it was just enough information about each place.And now, maybe, they are planning to visit some of these places and play a round...

Can't Go Wrong
This book was recommended as a Father's Day gift in a magazine and being that my Dad LOVES golf, I thought it was a sure thing.It ended up being way more than that.The book is beautiful!Don't tell anyone but it is way underpriced.It looks like a $50 coffee table book.My mom thought I had paid $80 to $100 for it.My Dad loves it so much that he displayed it on top of tv in the living room. He was giddy to find many courses in the book that he had played.The only downside I could see was that my Dad may find numerous golf courses around the world that he now feels he has to go and play. ... Wow!
This isn't the perfect coffee-table-travel-reference book for golf in Scotland and Ireland, but then Tiger Woods isn't the perfect golfer either.If you've golfed in Scotland and Ireland, if you're planning to play in Scotland and Ireland, or if you're only dreaming of playing in Scotland and Ireland, this is absolutely one book that you must have.It's a steal at Amazon's $37.80.You may recognize some of the text, paraphrased a bit, from Finegan's 1996 "Blasted Heaths and Blessed Greens" [Scotland], and "Emerald Fairways and Foam-Flecked Seas" [Ireland], but this large format book is in no way a duplicate.What can I say?The golf course photography by Laurence Lambrecht is spectacular.Finegan's prose sparkles as ever.Any negatives?Sometimes, I think, Finegan goes a little over the top, maybe even a lot over the top.But who cares? ... Good fighting concepts book
This book is great in terms of coming up with ideas for techniques and defense strategies.Bruce Lee was studying and practicing with many martial artists from multiple fighting systems.I think this book is written pretty well, and the very important and practical information is elaborated on more extensively.

Great Jumping book for beginners
This book creates a great foundation to train yourself and your horse to excell in jumping no matter what your intentions may be. I personally would recomend this book for all ages and engligh riders even the one's with no intention on jumping.

A Great Book To Keep In Your Tack Room!
I have started to do some of these exercises with my Appaloosa gelding. He is ten, but has gone western the two years he has been trained and is very ignorant of english riding skills.

This Book is "Frigg'n Sweet!!!"
If ever there was a humorous side to hyper-active, neglected and attention-deficient children, Robert Hamburger has found it! From cover to cover, "The REAL Ultimate Power" is chock full of childish hilarity counter-pointed by a very poignant under-belly displaying a fictional child's attempt to cope with being different and neglected. Yes, it's still HILARIOUS! Hamburger writes this essentially "for Dummies" spoof from the perspective of a learned 10-year-old kid who's inability to deal with his reality (parents he perceives as neglectful, friends who aren't his friends, etc.) leads him to be overly passionate (he calls it "pumped") about ninjas. I couldn't stop laughing! Not only are 99.9% of Robert's views on ninjas completely off-base and unrealistic (ah, childhood!), most times they're crude, disgusting, absurd and hilarious. Did you know that the defining characteristic of a ninja is the ability to "flip out and kill people" without the slightest provocation? Or that a BONER is the ninja's most prized weapon? Or that ninjas can fly? I, for one, was shocked to learn that Benjamin Franklin not only killed a man, but in the same night, laid in "feigned passion" with a sea turtle! These are just a few of Robert's skewed ideas, and they only get worse (or "better" if you're one to appreciate the humor!)
Brain bending awesomness
This book is great the way it's told. The "Genius" spotlight review hit my thoughts exactly. Many people might not get all the subtle hints in the text and footnotes that tell the real story of a boy. That would be a shame. But if you liked the website, you'll like the book either way.

Really funny
One of the funniest books I've ever read. Had me laughing out loud like a fool during my commute. This book was AWESOME.

No detail left unexplored
An impressive level of detail, covering absolutely every aspect of training for a full ironman.This will serve as a constant reference for me as I embark on my training, and I highly recommend this as a reference guide for those even enagaged in a 1/2 iron or shorter-distance triathlon.

A little confused
First of all let me say that this is about the best ironman training book out there.However, there are several severe flaws.First, the authors are confused about their audience.It is never clear when they are talking to novices and when they are addressing elites. They float around willy-nilly first addressing one then the other.Warnings are given to beginners right in the middle of long spiels obviously addressed only to pros.I believe this book is probably meant for novice to intermmediate triatheletes. But the authors are inconsistent in their approach to this.Second, most of the equipment information is very shallow but nevertheless useful to novices.However, once again the intended audience is unclear.Thirdly, the training bricks, many workout, and much of the advice are clearly geared to triatheletes who are very advanced.Any first-timer is going to overtrainand many advanced atheletes will as well if they utilize some of these workouts.They authors recommend no more than two breakthough workouts per week!!Is anybody else reading this?So once again the audience is unclear.If the authors are going to address novices then they need to do so in a consistent way throughout the book.The same with elites and intermmediates etc.Despite these flaws I managed to extract a great deal of useful information from this book and will continue to use it. ...
