5-0 out of 5 stars Must reading for doubles players and doubles fans
"Doubles Tennis Tactics" is the most authoritative book written on this subject.Doubles requires specific shot selection, court positioning and movement patterns for each player: the server, server's partner, receiver, and receiver's partner.Louis Cayer, a distinguished coach, analyzes all that in depth. The chapter on playing styles analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the five major playing styles, and that alone is reason enough for tournament players to buy this book. But the timeless question is: how can teams maximize teamwork to accentuate their strengths and minimize their weaknesses.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic reference
Both beginners and more advanced players should be able to get a lot out of this quality reference work as it offers detailed (yet practical) text, illustrationa and diagrams covering all aspects of the game. The book is considered by most experts in the sport to be among the top two or three instructionals ever published on Squash. It won't make you a championship quality player, but it should help your game no matter what skill level you are currently at.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book on drills
I found the drills in this book to be very helpful in improving my game. It is an excellent resource for beginners/intermediate players. The drills are very good for improving accuracy. For those of you willing to impove their game this book is an excellent buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars A review from squash lover
I bought this book to look at the drills and the workouts one needs to do to imporve the oncourt acceleration, endurance and stamina. This books have lot of drills which one can do to improve his or her game. Lot of strokes can be practised by oneself but there are a lot of drills that the book describes which need the help of a partner, which are very good for ball control like playing a game where both partners hit the ball to the back of the court and point is scored if the person hits short of the mid court line. etc., etc.,Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth buying for the first half
I really enjoyed this book. The first half focuses on JMacs tennis career and matches and he gives a lot of insight into his key matches and opponents. He definitely gets rather technical here but I find it interesting to read his analysis of Arthur Ashe's backhand, for example. He doesn't shrink away from doing a set by set analysis of his key matches, but again I find it interesting to read a first hand account of a wimbledon final in intricate detail from the perspective of one of the participants... The second half focuses more on his personal life, which was less interesting to me. Mcenroe is remarkably straightforward about his shortcomings on and off the court, which makes this more honest and less self-aggrandizing than most autobiographies. For anyone interested in the game of tennis and the career and opinions of one of the game's greatest players, this is definitely worth picking up.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing & Dull!
As a long time fan of professional tennis, and John McEnroe in particular, I was tremendously disappointed in this one. Most of the book reads like a box score of a tennis match.McEnroe describes matches in agonizing detail.I was amazed that he remembered these matches so explicitly; perhaps he watched video of them while writing the book. There is painfully little about his personal life.I read Tatum O'Neal's book just before this one, and was curious to read McEnroe's take on their marriage. While I admired him for not taking an opportunity to trash his ex, he doesn't disclose much about why their marriage failed, or why his current marriage succeeds.I suppose he wanted to keep some things private, which is certainly understandable; but if that's the case, why write an autobiography in the first place?

4-0 out of 5 stars Why read this book?
Johnnie Mac muses in print on why he even wanted to write this book, and figures it's largely because he wants to keep out there, loves the attention.Could be; it certainly wasn't to bare his breast and tell all he could be telling.

5-0 out of 5 stars Andre Agassi
Paul Bauman wrote a wonderful book about Andre Agassi called Agassi and Ecstacy. I think the book was really enjoyable to read and it was interesting.I liked it because it had a lot of interesting facts about Andre Agassi's life and tennis career. I would recommend this book to tennis players and fans of Andre Agassi.I also recommend this book for all ages of people who are interested in tennis and who like Andre Agassi. I read this book because I really enjoyed tennis and Andre Agassi.I thought it was a really fun book to read and I enjoyed writing a review on it.

2-0 out of 5 stars I have seen this technique before....
I have seen this technique before in others unauthorized bios... The writer simply goes out searaching for magazines and TV interviews featuring the star on focus, thatn releases a book without having PERSONALLY interviewd anybody related to the star!! Simply sepaking, its almos a job of Control C, Control V !! (COPY AND PASTE!!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Interesting
Although this biography is unauthorized, it contains a lot of information and interesting interviews. This is a great book. Unfortunately, there isn't a biography on Agassi that is more recent. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Step by step analysis of basic stroke errors with photos
A gem of a book, almost a tennis textbook of the basic stroke errors and how to fix them. It's a troubleshooters guide that can sit on your bookshelf or you can read and re-read to prevent basic errors. The photoillustrations are great-taken from Braden's extensive video collections.Itook a yellow marker to this book and highlighted the relevant tips to burnthem in my brain.I need another one because I gave mine to a friend whowas netting her volleys. Invaluable.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Preoblem-Solving Tips on Technique
This book is well suited for the beginner through advanced intermediatelevel player. It provides very useful tips on problems with the mechanicsof one's stroked and backs them up with facts. Mr Braden has amassed yearsof useful information to share and this book is a good starting point.Interested readers might also want to consider Braden's "Tennis2000" as complementary reading. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTING
I guess my expectations are too high. This book was very remedial with a lack of content. I was hoping to gain some insight from this book, but the information was basic at the best, with poor choices for athletes. No regard to the biomechanics of resistance training were applied, and no effort to address the neural or physiological continuums that are extremely important to athletic development. The one bright spot is the section on the court drills. They are enough to get you started on agility and foot speed drills.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you play serious tennis, this is what you want!
This book is a set of well crafted exercise patterns. I am really impressed by the way the author has touched upon key development areas, which, one can easily overlook. I am very regular with my gym schedules with a balance of cardio and weight training. Sticking to the book schedule of about 3 month program shouldn't be a motivational challenge. With just one week into it, I have not only seen the results in my court coverage and my game, but also into other "reflex" sensative indoor games like foos ball :)
5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what a serious player needs.
As a high school tennis coach and a tournament player myself, I have looked extensively for a training source that is highly specific to tennis and easy to follow. Don Chu's book fits both of these criteria. Chu tellsyou exactly what to do and how to do it; reps and sets are clearly listedand the exercises carefully explained. Several other books on the marketpromise a great deal, but Chu's book, in my experience, is the only onethat promises to make you a stronger player and then shows you the steps toachieve this goal, provided you work hard. No other book or program on themarket can do this in my opinion. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars some great ideas
When coaching tennis you can get in a rut. This book is great for some new ideas to make practice fun. Even the games for little kids are adaptable for all ages.5-0 out of 5 stars A great book for Tennis Instructors
This is a fantastic book. I have started using many of the drills and games in my tennis lessons. So far I have only scratched the surface of the book, but even that has been very helpful for me. 1-0 out of 5 stars Did we read the same book?
First of all, the book is filled with TYPOS!I can't believe any publisher or editor would let this book hit the stands in the first place. Most of the drills require more than two players (often difficult to come by) and it is geared much more towards the tennis coach than the every dayplayer.I would only recommend this book if you don't mind typos and arecoaching fairly large groups. There are a couple of decent drills. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book to improve your game.
This is an excellent book on the subject. This is the second tennis drill book I have read, and this one is slightly better. The 100 drills are explained in the most efficient and concise way possible. In tennis, a picture is worth a thousand words. And, the author understands that perfectly well.Almost every single drill is clearly illustrated which greatly enhances your understanding of what that specific drill is about.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good drills organized by the skills you want to develop.
Keep your game fresh and advance your skills with these drills and games designed to sharpen single aspects of your game.I never knew what the skills were that I lacked or how to get them until I read this book.Goodfor players and a must for coaches. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars If you like tennis, you'll love "The Right Set"
"The Right Set" is the tennis equivalent of "The Best Sports Stories" annual series except that it contains 44 great pieces written in the past 75 years.4-0 out of 5 stars Witty contemporary overview of Tennis icons
My wife loves for and lives for tennis. That's why, when I give her this book for her birthday in three weeks, she will have an even better insight into the soul of her well-known tennis heroes and heroines. Thiscompilation is a bright, insightful commentary of the state to Tennistoday; its nine sections involve description of virtually all facets of thegame, including tradition, history, personalities, etc. I know of no otherrecent publication that one can read and leave with the smug satisfactionthat comes with "expert-level" knowledge. 5-0 out of 5 stars Justin Vigmostad
I have never been as inspired or excited to get better at tennis as I am now, having read this book. Clint's method of teaching, even through a book, is so customized to each individual's tennis game that it's as if he is writing directly to you. Instead of changing your tennis game to be more generic, the Tennis Guru works with your natural abilities and puts you on the path to becoming the best tennis player that YOU can be. I highly recommend this book, and if you ever have an opportunity to take a private lesson with Clint, don't pass it up...it will change you and your tennis game forever.

2-0 out of 5 stars The Sequel that Bombs
This was a bit of a disappointment. First, if you were hoping for a coach's principles on leadership in business, go back to the "Business" section of the bookstore. I understand that by targeting the business world Brad can increase his book sales beyond the sports junkies of the world, but in relating his coaching to other life applications, well...he leaves a bit of a gap.
5-0 out of 5 stars A must read for anyone passionate about the game
This book is very inspiring as B.G. suggests the attitude proper to anything we do. `You Really Gotta Love It' is his recipe for success and inner peace. These are not just words, he practises what he preaches. For him, tennis is, and always has been, all about passion. That is why prospective readers must be cautioned: THIS PASSION CAN BE CONTAGIOUS!
1-0 out of 5 stars Put it back !
This book is disappointing. There is very little that is contained in this book that is worthwhile information to anyone. Brad Gilbert describes (many times) what a great relationship that he has with Andre and Andy and what a great coach he is. There are quotes sprinkled in throughout the book to make it come off that it really is a business type self improvement book, but it isn't even close. Save your money and put the book BACK on the store shelf and put your money BACK into your wallet! ... Read more

Overall, this is a very good collection of tennis drills.Tina Hoskins covers tennis drills for numerous situations including: singles, doubles, group and children drills, competitive games, and even backboard drills. That is how she reaches the staggering number of 245 tennis drills.Given that most players have specific needs and desire associated with tennis drills, you will probably find only a small percentage of these drills useful. And, that is perfectly OK.
