Focused for Tennis
Wonderful! This book will teach you how to focus on the most important part of the game....mental focus.It teaches you to restart each point and motivates you to deal with the most harrowing part of the game....yourself. Good history of the men's games, but...
Baltzell has put together a really good historical piece on men's tennis, but he draws some pretty far-reaching conclusions about the superiority of pre-war Anglo-American culture from, among other things, the number of non-English-speaking countries that have won the Davis Cup since the advent of open tennis.It's an excellent read for the history, but be ready for some sociological conclusions that are based on shaky evidence.

Good overview of the women's tour
This book is good to learn about the tennis tour in general and how the business is changing.However when it comes to the actual players, you only get a glimpse of them.Since it is not a bio of any of the players, that may be too much to ask.Tennis fans who follow the writer's online column may not get much more insight into the game.However newcomers may find it informative.I liked the book but it didn't go into the hard issues on the tour such as coaches who have affairs with the players and what should be done.Burn out, parent/coach abuse, public pressure, big money, girls supporting their families, etc.You get a small overview of these problems.At the very least parents should read it if they want their kids to become pro atheletes.

Enjoyable quick read for tennis fans
A must read for anyone who wants to learn more about the players and personalities in the women's tennis world. I also learned a great deal about the women's tennis circuit.Very quick read and quite enjoyable. Lacking Substance

Tennis Practice games can work!
With some tweaking I was actually able to use many of the practice games with favorable results. Not all of the games worked, and some I had to improvised, but over all it gave my kids some fun and a new perspective to the same old ideas that we have been trying to pound into their brain.

This books hits the "tin", just as a bad squash stroke would
I read the book hoping I would gain some insight into the game I have been playing at a competitive level for over 8 years.I was disappointed to find out that despite having been written by one of squash's legends,Hashim Khan, it fails, on every account, to provide any useable informationfor either begginers or advanced players.Nor are the illustrations withinthe pages of the book inspiring.I do not recommend this book for anyonelooking to gain or deepen their wisdom of this fascinating sport.If Iwere a squash referee, I'd call a "let point" against this book.

Fun book. Not good for learning the game
I bought the book hoping to learn squash, being a beginner. I was disappointed to find that it wasn't written for that purpose. simple but very effective
This "but ugly" green book is a "sleeper" that cuts right to the CORE of how the game should be played.In essense, USA TC places heavy emphasis on playing the game itself correctly and not on things such as stroke mechanics.Like most other tennis books, the subject matter is compartmentalized, but TC uses a somewhat different approach to each subject matter.No tennis book library should be without a copy in it.

This book does a great job of teaching basic skills and strategies and giving a good overview of philosiphy of the game.the instructions are very clear and the pictures show the exact sequence of movements for proper performance of skills.This book also features drills for improving techniques and conditioning as well as basic strength and flexibility training information.for the true beginner, this book also contains the IBF rules (at the time-setting score needs update).This book took me from a terrible player with no prior knowledge of the game, to an outstanding player. Worth Implementing In Your Junior Program
Growing up with David Britt, it was an honor to purchase his book sharing his thoughts, experiences and advise to parents and coaches. I think so much of this book that I have implemented it as purchase for parents of young people in my own Junior ACADEMY. Doing this has saved alot of time and similar repeated conversations about the development of each child in the program.
