More Soccer Info than you can absorb - in a Great Way
Great Stuff!!!!This book is staggering in the breadth and depth of info available.
Nice Country data
Goldblatt does a great job of collecting national data of all football countries and gives great piece of info in cities and countries football maps.
No Other Yearbook Is Needed
This is about as comprehensive a yearbook as I have ever seen for any sport. There is so much information packed in this colorful volume that it would take you a year just to get through it all. But for people in the States who can't get enough of soccer/football, there is no other book better than the Soccer Yearbook by David Goldblatt.

A good book!
How to play soccer is a good book. It teaches most of basic techniques separately, like dribling, heading goalkeeping. But it does not teaches exercises to achieve strength, speed and agility. It is good for coaches who want to train their team to better football. It may not be as good for players who are learning individually.

There are many errors of technique taught here (for example, goalie hand positions).Not a good book.

Interesting Insight
I have been very interested in the 'hooligan' culture that pervaded English football not long ago.As all of the former brawlers are now out of the fight scene, many of them have turned to writing about their exploits.After reading about how notoriously tough the West Ham firm were, it was time to hear about them from the source.
Stop Havin' A Larf!
If Cass Pennant came up against 500 people with just him and his mate the 500 people would come off worse,well that's if your to believe this book.It's a good read but he does exagerate and it should be in the fiction section.Those Cockney's do like to bend the truth.

Future of Coaching
I've only coached men's college teams, but I'm convinced Anson's principles represent a foundation for the future of coaching -- for athletes of either sex. Competition is fun and practices need to be fun. The days of drill sergeant as coaching model are over. Excellent soccer ideas for all soccer coaches
This book is an excellent guide for ways to develop your soccer team and take them to a new level.This is more for advanced coaches, but I think beginning coaches can utilize these techniques also.Covers great program building techniques for youth boys and women of all levels.Great resource for all soccer coaches.

He, She, It
I bought this book because I haven't played soccer since I was a kid so I had some catching up to do. The book is very easy to follow and understand though the writer was constantly referring to the reader as "she" which I found to be both annoying and distracting.

If you love Barca...
This book provides a great overview of the history of the club, its stars, the machinations of its ruling junta, and the passion of the cules, all against the backdrop of Catalonia's political struggle for identity and independence within Spain. Burns provides some nice historical details and great anecdotes, but, as is to be expected considering the hundred year focus of the book and the complexity of 20th century Spain, necessarily deals with some of the political history in a less comprehensive manner.
Astonished
Reading this book is simple amazing. I bough it because I am a truly FC BARCELONA fan, however this books goes beyond that, it explains very well the relationships between Spanish recent history and soccer, finally I am able to understand the frivolity between this winner team and others, more related to socialand political issues than only sports.
More than a Club
Jimmy Burns writes dispassionately about a football club that evokes the strongest of emotions, including the kind of tribal love that borders on the chauvenistic.Fans of the club interested in modern Spanish history will appreciate the author's intertwining of football and politics.At times, however, this well-researched book feels drained of the game's abundant color and spirit as club presidents receive far more attention than the boot room.Burns presents Barca's story chronologically, offering an absorbing account of the club's creation, but when Franco arrives on the scene, the pages become populated with conniving industrialists.While certainly part of Barca's story, the board room machinations of ambitious suits drown out the passion of the cules.

Great for introducing tactics to your players
Building on "The Art of Defending Part I" which handles 1v1 through 8v8 play, this is a fantastic book for youth soccer coaches that are teaching those age groups that can grasp and employ tactical concepts (U12 and up, IMHO).Harrison breaks down defending into "phase play practices" that deal with defense in the defending, middle, and attacking thirds of the field respectively.Naturally the drills/short-sided games work well for teaching offense as well...I use the "Regaining Possession in the Attacking Third" games to also teach building the attack from the back.This and Harrison's other books are worth the money. ... A True Story Well Told
When I got ready to read Soccer Dreams, I wasn't sure if it was something that would interest me.I'm not much of a sports person and know almost nothing about soccer.I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I didn't need to know anything about sports at all to enjoy the book.

Useful and effective
A brand new soccer coach facing six very wild and unruly 6 year-old boys hoping I could teach them the basics of the game of soccer.No easy task.A key concept here is that we need to give very young kids the chance to try new things out, develop their confidence and have fun so they keep coming back - and that this is far more important than winning.This book was a lifesaver my first year.It was rained on, stepped on and dragged in and out of the equipment bag many times during the season.But under all that muck and abuse are some very creative ideas to get the kids engaged while also teaching them basic skills like dribbling, passing and defending.Great book.

Coping with pressure.
The English(England) soccer manager, Sven-Göran Eriksson, believes that modern soccer matches are not won on the pitch, but inside people's minds. His book; On Soccer, the Inner Game: Improving Performance examines not just how Eriksson got inside his players' brains, but how he started nothing short of a revolution in English soocer thinking. Eriksson's plan, devised with sports psychologist Dr Willi Railo, has two critical elements. These are to banish the crippling effects of the fear of failure from the minds of the England players, and to encourage them to train mentally as well as physically to reach the highest levels of performance--dubbed playing in 'the zone' Neurologists and psychologists from some of Britain's most prestigious universities believe anxiety and the fear of failure can make top professionals turn in performances like amateurs, and that Eriksson and Railo have a way to help the England team endure the pressure. Their view is that England's soccer past has been dogged by fear of failure. Piling on pressure and relying on patriotism to get people to perform doesn't work when--at heart--it's just 11 footballers taking on 11.

I did not buy this book because I am a footballer, Ive never ever played soccer and probably never will. However I love the game and everything behind "the win". What makes a team win? Everything a Dream Season Could Ask For
Chamique Holdsclaw was already becoming one of the best in women's basketball but she wanted the chance to be on a true winning team.Compared to the other year where the team went 29-10 and won a national title, she wasn't happy with the up and down season and so wasn't Pat.Picking up true freshmen Tamika Catchings, Semeka Randell, and Teresa Geter made all of more sense that this team was gonna be good to go for an undefeated season.The will and power of each game they played through out the season playing the toughest schedule in the country Pat put this team through the ultimate test to win a third national title.Of course, Pat has not repeated the success she has had since the '98 National Championship, but this team will forever go down in history being the first 39-0 team in women's basketball.
